Phoenix University of Theology is chartered internationally through the ecclesiastical authority of Spiritual Concepts International Church of the Firstborn which was incorporated in the State of Arkansas in 1978. The Phoenix University of Theology system was established in Phoenix, Arizona in June of 2001. The states of Arkansas, Arizona, Alabama, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Iowa, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Minnesota, Missouri, New Mexico, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, South Carolina, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin and Wyoming recognize the sovereignty and ecclesiastical authority of the church to charter and accredit its own schools for the purpose of training adherents to the Christian faith.
Spiritual Concepts International Church of the Firstborn is constitutionally exempt from taxation and received a tax exempt determination letter in 1980 pursuant to section to section 501 (c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Contributions to the University are tax deductible.
Our first school was chartered in 1978 as a Bible Correspondence School. The School transitioned into a distance learning Seminary in 1982 and formed an "Open University" system in 1990. Spiritual Concepts International Seminary, The Institute for Christian Maturity and College of the Bible formed the initial system that now includes over 100 schools and teaching ministries world wide.
